Kemiko® Stone Tone Sealer II
Gloss (46C-1)
Description
Kemiko Stone Tone Sealer II is a low viscosity, low odor, single component, acrylic water base sealer.
It can be used to protect bare concrete, Stone Tone acid stained concrete and Rembrandt Polymer
stained concrete, without giving a wet-look. This user friendly, easy-to-apply coating is designed to be a
waterproofing sealer for horizontal and vertical cementitious substrates such as concrete and masonry.
Benefits include: low VOC, chemical resistance, stain resistance and UV resistance. Stone Tone Sealer II is
available in a clear high gloss finish and is an excellent replacement product for high VOC lacquers, acrylics
and varnishes.
Applications
Kemiko Stone Tone Sealer II can be applied over properly prepared concrete, Kemiko Stone Tone Stain
and Kemiko Rembrandt Polymer Stain as a resilient protective finish coat. Typical applications include:
commercial and residential cement floors, hospitals, showroom floors, schools, shopping malls, patios,
walkways and many other interior or exterior floor surfaces requiring additional protection.
Surface Preparation
Concrete
Surface must be cured, dry and free from stains and laitance. All visible oil, grease or any other contaminants
must be removed prior to application of coating. Surface preparation includes using concrete grinding and
shot blasting to achieve a surface profile of CSP 3. The concrete should have a slight texture for the coat-
ing to achieve proper penetration and adhesion. Clean surface and ensure that all dust, debris and other
contaminants have been removed. Check concrete preparation by applying water over a small area of the
concrete surface, especially in areas that had oil and grease stains. If water beads on the surface, additional
surface preparation is needed. If concrete darkens with no water beading on the surface, then the surface is
ready to be coated. It is advisable to test a small area with sealer before starting the job to ensure that the
substrate is compatible with this sealer choice.
Existing Coatings
Surface must be cured, dry and free from stains and laitance. All visible oil, grease or any other contaminants
must be removed prior to application of coating. For best adhesion, the existing coating must be scuffed with
a nonwoven abrasive pad, floor buffer with abrasive screen or orbital sander with sandpaper (80-120 grit) to
achieve a rough surface profile. Clean area and wipe existing coating with a rag and acetone to ensure that
all oil, grease or any other contaminants have been successfully removed. If existing coating is not a Kemiko
product, consult with a Kemiko representative prior to application.
Warning: Wear a NIOSH approved respirator to control toxin exposure. Scraping, sanding or removing old
paint may release toxic lead dust. Exposure may lead to serious illness, such as brain damage, especially in
children. Pregnant women should avoid exposure. Clean up carefully with a HEPA vacuum and a wet mop.
Mixing Instructions
Shake well prior to use. No additional mixing is required.
