Silane/Solixane Sealer
(K51-1)
Description
KemikoRepels™ (K51-1) is a 0-VOC, extremely user-friendly, waterborne silane/siloxane emulsion
for sealing KemikoStone Tone™ Stained concrete and other cementitious substrates. Kemiko
Repels™ Sealer is a water viscosity, single component product that is formulated to repel water,
reduce efflorescence and frost damage, allows substrate to breathe, has very little or no odor, does
not contain solvents, and preserves stained concrete color and natural gloss. KemikoRepels™ Sealer
is resistant to UV and high alkalinity exposure.
Applications
KemikoRepels™ K51-1 is applied to properly prepared stained and bare concrete, new and
existing stucco finishes, fired clay brick, and many other cementitious mortars. Typical applications
include commercial and residential driveways, walkways, facades, pool decks, stamped and stained
concrete, new architectural poured in place and precast concrete, and many other horizontal and
vertical above grade exterior surfaces requiring additional protection. Excellent replacement product
for high VOC solvent base water repellents and sealers with excellent wetting properties.
Not formulated to be applied over previously sealed substrate, non-porous substrate, KemikoDyes or
Rembrandt™ Polymer Stain.
Surface Preparation
Concrete
Surface must be cured, dry and free from stains and laitance. All visible oil, grease or any other
contaminants must be removed prior to application of coating. Surface preparation includes
using concrete grinding, shot blasting, and acid etching. If acid is used, refer to the manufacturer’s
instructions and recommendations for neutralization. If using mild mechanical abrasion techniques,
use a concrete grinder or shot blasting machine to achieve a surface profile of CSP 3-5. Clean
surface and ensure that all dust, debris, and contaminants have been removed. Check concrete
preparation by applying water over a small area of the concrete surface (especially in areas that
had oil and grease stains). If water beads on the surface, additional surface preparation is needed.
If concrete darkens with no water beading on the surface, then the surface is ready to be coated
after concrete dries. Mask all glass and metal surfaces – THESE SURFACES MUST BE PROTECTED FROM
CONTACT WITH THIS PRODUCT.
Existing Coatings
This product is not designed to be applied over existing coatings.
Warning
Wear a NIOSH approved respirator to control toxin exposure. Scraping, sanding or removing old paint
may release toxic lead dust. Exposure may lead to serious illness, such as brain damage, especially in
children. Pregnant women should avoid exposure. Clean up carefully with a HEPA vacuum and a wet
mop.
Mixing Instructions
Using a mechanical jiffy-type mixer, mix KemikoRepels™ K51-1 at slow speed (500-1000rpm) for
1-2 minutes until a homogenous mixture is obtained. Scrape sides and bottom of container to ensure
that there is no settled material. Mix again at slow speed for an additional 1-2 minutes.
Mixing Tips
• Do not mix product by hand; only use a mechanical mixer. Hand mixing does not properly
incorporate the components.
• For best results, prior to mixing, have material as close as possible to an ambient temperature of
77ºF (25ºC).

Application Methods
This product can be applied using several different methods outlined below. Tape off any area that
does not require a coating. Do not thin material.
• Brush - Use high quality bristle brush for best film properties
• Roller - Use lambswool or similar cover with phenolic core, 1/4” (6.35mm) nap. De-lint roller prior
to use
• Spray - Commercial conventional air spray or airless spray equipment utilizing spray gun tip size
between 0.013”- 0.015”. Adjust pressure for proper atomization. Maintain consistent spay pressure.
Back-roll product with a high quality lambswool or similar cover
Environmental Conditions
For best results, apply when surface temperature is between 50ºF- 85ºF (10ºC-29ºC) and 5ºF (3ºC)
above dew point. Avoid using in direct sunlight. Do not apply on rainy or foggy days.
Clean Up
Use warm water and mild soap to clean tools.
Storage Conditions
Store between 50ºF-100ºF (10ºC-37.8ºC). Keep in a cool, well-ventilated area, away from direct
sunlight and heat. Store in a segregated and safe area, avoiding all possible sources of ignition.
Safety
Care should be taken when using this product. During application, use protective eye wear, proper
respirator and protective gloves. Ensure work spaces are well ventilated. Read product label and SDS
